just a heads up: i encountered a bug with the savanah masters; they currently have no icon. not a deal breaker, but it could make it hard to know which way they are pointed (unsure at this point). I figure it is too close to our drop to risk me squeezing in another MekHQ update (can fix later though) so if you aren't keen on having invisible scouts, I have two "Hover Scouts" at the ready that could fill the same role. Their key difference is they shave off a little armor to mount their medium laser in a turret (the SM lacks this feature)... which might actually be better if that's something you want. VTOLs currently get no additional quirks... they typically have neither the blind spots of ground vehicles (no short range penalty) nor are they particularly more stable (or accurate) than a mech (no Sniper ability). they are still fairly unique compared to other units in their own right, though.
and just fyi... when it comes to arty, sometimes quantity is better than quality; I was able to field EIGHT 4/5 Ignis' for 1600BV. you don't need to necessarily hit your intended target so much as hose their front yard with shrapnel. but i can't say for sure if taking 3/4 arty crews is a bad call or not... just wanted you to know your options.
Looking ahead a bit, a question about repairs: With MH in our lance also having the Astech skill, do I get to apply both Astech bonuses when doing repairs or only one?
I thought they do both apply. In Gamma I had to use the one dedicated mechanic solely on Tzeentch's Banshee just to keep it limping along leaving only Derek and my astech to fix the other three mechs in the lance. It is about the only hope for a lance to field an assault mech in good condition each drop, let alone multiple ones. Also figured out that I can run dual hatchets with TSM if I use endo and up my thunderbolt 5 tons. New life goals!!
good question... in terms of event rolls, that works the same as everything else: last roll always counts. in terms of Astech repairs, each character that has it is applied seperately. having more than one astach gives you the benefit of having more repairs... similar to how having more than one negotiator gives you more chances to successfully negotiate. didn't want to be presumptuous, but I'm guessing Delta is not dropping a second time this turn so as to make full repairs, right? if not, let me know when you want to do a second drop.
