I don't why it took me this long to think of it, but I actually have a few "prototype models" that are ready for field trials.

If y'all want to try them out, I'd be happy to share... I'd just need a place to put them.
(Be forewarned, only one of the variants actually has a sword or any melee-specific weapon.)

I just got back home and I need to get on with wrapping up our current campaign, but I see no problem with getting your designs added to a "test build" of megamek so you guys can play around with design ideas. I will leave it up to you, Orc, to move forward on that. I can add designs as needed when you get a list of files compiled.

I put together a dropbox link on my inital reply (look for the dragon!); hopefully it works!
    Also added more fluff!

Edit: I also included two bonus "Lancer variants" that I might want to work with in the future...!

I may have missed this, but do any companies sell empty chassis for future upgrades and/or fully custom built mechs made from a base design?

Been awhile since we used this, but I have a relevant question for everyone here:

Since I'm trying to truncate down the list of designs to something manageable, I've had to make some tough choices. Part of this reduction of the mech roster coems from the fact that since modular weapon pods are so much more prevalent now, it doesn't make a lot of sense for major factions to use a wide variety of designs. One who logically argue it would make more sense to have a few designs that shared as many parts as possible to increase efficiency of logistic supply chains.

Here are the fruits of my labor:
    http://www.theskjaldborg.com/index....orporate-century-sourcebook.7478/#post-269597

I tried to pick mechs for each faction that were very fitting. It is the "generic" mechs I'm having trouble with, though. For example, assuming both use omnipod technology, I'm having a hard time justifying the inclusion of both the Warhammer and the Marauder when they both more or less fullfill the same job. I'm trying to reduce the amount of overlap as much as possible.

Keep in mind, this list does not limit your selection in starter mechs. It simply will determine the most common designs you are likely to see.

    Any thoughts?

The only Marauder you need is my Mad Baby.

The list looks good and I can't think of an argument against streamlining since it's just for "house" units. If you were saying we could only have one of these X mechs and to hell with what we like it would be a different story since we're the special snowflakes here. But since it's just "house" units, make your life easier man.

Yeah, these will just determine standing armies you are likely to encounter.

The first of the 33XX production models is done. Decided to start off strong. Introducing the 3316 "Super Warhammer" WHM-20R. It has everything you loved about the Warhammer, now with 5 tons more of "fuck you".

    Capture.GIF [IMG]

Keep in mind, this is just the "base model". Eventually, I want to have every chassis to have at least one stripped model, one base model, and one "premium" model. From there, I can dip into different variants. Using the above example, I could definitely see a variant of this Warhammer with Snub-nosed PPCs that would make it ideal for city fighting.

So if I'm reading this right, Lancermechs are automatically omnis, right?

If you buy one of the standard 'faction' Lancer mechs

Typically yes, but new recruits will likely start out with whatever they can afford. Each faction has their own "special ops" units that are in every way equals to Lancers such as yourselves, but they do not operate under the Guild so are not "technically" Lancers. However, if you were to ask the average citizen, they would have difficulty making a distinction.

LancerMechs will not typically be on sale. Those are extremely powerful tools of war and are jealously guarded. The above example is simply a standard garrison mech. Other than being a very effective BattleMech, it doesn't offer anything particularly special.

The list I gave with the assigned faction units is simply to establish what you can expect to see when operating around said factions. Again, you won't be able to buy their advanced units, but you might be able to buy a stripped down unit that you could customize later.

More to your point, the Guild will likely offer some standard issue designs that will be affordable for new Lancers, but I have yet to post those.

To summarize, there will be three main categories one can purchase:
    • Standard Guild units (limited selection, but w/ possibly some advanced tech on them)
    • Common units (like the Warhammer above); some of these may use OmniTech, but not all.
    • Stripped faction units (no weapons or equipment)
Drones will fall under "common" units.
NPCs you hire could use units from any of the three major categories, but in all cases, you will not be able to modify their units (you can swap ammo though).
