Hope they can fix the game so I can play it like next week or so when I'll have time. This is currently the only game I'm excited to play so it was kind of a bummer that the only time for a week I'm able to play it is when it doesn't work because of yesterday's patch. Ah well, otoh the loss is not big since I wouldn't have been able to play it all that long.

I swear there was an oculus rift thread but I can't find it. but it looks like the final consumer version was revealed.
I had a thread going where I am trying to list a ton of free demos and games that I've tried with it + tips etc. Haven't had the time to update it. I really, really recommend the consumer version. DK2 is already such a immersion boost that it's just amazing and DK2 actually still suffers from reduced resolution etc. so it's not always easy to read text that fast and so. But it's still amazing and I use it on everything I can. Consumer version will be so badass with it's improved resolution etc. What's a GitS eyepiece? DK2 at least didn't come with any headphones, you need to use your own. Or in case of Elite, you can just select from inside Elite which Oculus profile to use - headphones OR speakers and it will actually know to take your head movement into account with your speakers. ------- Elite works again with Oculus! Today I tried to log in and it loaded all the way through and got to main menu. Oh I missed this.. Though it might be to next weekend until I can play.
Glad to hear the Oculus issue for you has been resolved... yeah, i'm gonna wait for the Consumer version of OR.. hopefully it gives me the option to get the rift withOUT the added accessories ( headset/controller) for a reduced cost... i have a very good quality headset/w/mic ( steelseries) and i never play with a x-box controller EDIT: i think the GitS eyepiece he is referring to is the shiney cover ... looks like they are going with a matte/flat finish (which i would prefer anyway)
People can always apply shiny finish spray on their OR I would be surprised if they added a headset to the final kit since it wasn't with DK2 either and because, headphones are definition of 3rd party and not everyone wants to use headphones. I loved my sennheisers but I'm now contemplating between new better sennheisers or M50 which I recently tried out and was just awesome.
The version that was just released (I think it's consumer) does have integrated audio but they are removable. the audio arms are removable I mean. and they made their own controller. and the IR sensor looks like a mic. I wonder if later on it will be a mic as well.
I would doubt it not to be a mic even later. It just appear they've got some cover concealing the previous silver-looking lense of the DK2's IR tracker. Excited about the controllers, that was a big issue - how to maintain immersion with the virtual avatar/torso. Now you can actually move it's arms with your dual controllers and interact with the world more directly & immersively. Headphones look like easy setup for average user though every self respecting gamer will probably toss them the first thing they do when they open the pakcage. Sorry. Drunk.
possibly keep them as a backup. wouldn't be surprised though of a future headset addon/attachement thing. somehow get a mic on their that is removable.
Image processing goggles. Night vision, HUD, and other nifty modes in a multi-sensor package. The current DK (or one of the recent ones) had a smooth, but boxy appearance with dots on the front and sides (for IR tracking?).
That looks almost exactly like it. For some reason the leds are not very visible in most of the online images of dk2. Also it's not fully smooth from the front, it has mild feature lines on the front: I just don't understand how the leds are not visible?
this is the one you are thinking of... it was the crescent bay DK 2.5 that was never released but used in many of the trade shows...
Nice planet, I really need to start exploring but having too much fun killing stuff. I've been concentrating on combat and bounty hunting recently, will be going exploring later this year I think Only got 14% till I hit Deadly then the grind for ELITE is almost done which is when I'll decide which route to take next.
