http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/...nt/fermenting-equipment/bubbler-air-lock.html You add 1/3 water with a starsan additive. co2 bubbles out, but if o2 makes it through, the starsan cleans it up. from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Skoll meant to say if it's good send a private message to Damien to let him know. He will fly up to help you drink it on a Saturday. Did I get that right Skoll?
2 months in, still just as cloudy. Caps n' bottles came in (and hydrometer + tube and spring tip filler as well)
Sigh, so, I'm not noticing any activity, and there has still been no change in it. I'm wondering if the yeast died off or is lacking in nutrition, and thus unable to finish... Almost 3 months in the bottle now.
I've never made that recipe before but when I made mead they would finish about three months. Yours will take about six if I remember correctly. I went back and compared your first photo with the latest one and there appears to be air bubbles still in yours. I don't think it would hurt if you added more yeast and food after drawing some off to test. I kept a log and of each batch recording the hydrometer readings. It will indicate if the yeast is working, lay down on the job, almost done or finished.
Specific gravity at 1.048, still a ways to go since I believe I want to be under 1.010. Definate orange note with a hint of clove in the nose. Sweet, orange, honey to the taste, ever so slightly hot. Expecting it to dry up when it finally finishes. May need to rest a while in the bottle to lose the heat, we'll see. No clue if it needs more yeast or whatnot.
You know the yeast is working if the SG changes in 3 weeks. It does sound good by your description, minus the sweetness.
Wife took a taste and said it was good, but potent, warmed her all the way down. I don't notice it at all. Reminded me of a hard cider in the alcohol content/taste.
Because it was HER saying it, and she's a lightweight? Not successful yet... still got more time to wait!
