So, put in some "Yeast Energizer", doesn't seem to have done anything... should I put another thing of yeast in?
If it taste too sweet, I would put more yeast in. I would pre-start the yeast out side your brew bottle in a one cup container. The pre-starter should look like it's working before pouring it in your batch. I hope this helps.
It's somewhat sweet, sort of like a cider. I had expected it to clear up, but it's still super cloudy, can't see anything through it. Oranges never dropped either, still floating.
You guys are giving me some inspiration to finally give this a shot. I've been wanting to do this for years, ever since my Wife's Dad showed us how to brew up Moonshine one summer.
Just checked my gravity, still only at 1.046. Looks like the yeast is done working/died out. Should I drop some more in or just give up and bottle it in its cloudy state?
My brother just got done making some honey mead! He had 2 or 3 pounds of honey he put in. I only wish!
You have a thread devoted to Mead creation?! The only place to get Mead where I live is Morrisons, and it's rather sub par. Will have to give this a go.
I already have family trying to claim this shit. Do I not even get to keep any for mySELF to drink? :unamusedcat:
Congrats on your first batch! If you want to brew another one, a lot of great norwegian brewers recommend the book "the complete meadmaker" by Ken Schramm. One of the big tips on mead fermentation is to shake it about 1 or 2 times every day to add oxygen, until 1/3 of the honey is eaten up. Also, not sure if you have this in the states, but there's a herb called mead wort that's great for hopping your mead.
