Not easy to tell, but this is a Co-op play from Mechcon.

I will definitely play this....my rig upgrade is 2 years overdue as I patiently await Squadron 42....but this might encourage me to go early if we are still waiting.

Picky, but it would be nice to see some super-lite tactics in the AI....like that locust bugging out when it was left alone and retreating to bolster the next waypoint. I know that messes with battle to battle balancing, but would be a nice touch and an incentive to not completely ignore them up to that point.

Hm, is anyone else bothered by the building destruction? There is no 'weight' to the buildings at all. They just crumble to ash. In Battletech crashing into buildings is a terrifying prospect to be avoided unless you're desperate because it could damage you and knock you down. Here buildings are paper and you knock them over just by wandering past with an arm clipping them. They don't appear to slow you down or anything.

It doesn't look like there's any way to use them for lighter mechs to gain elevation either, given how easy they crumble.

I can see that two ways Dihm.

A: they are working on something exactly like what you are saying and it will come to us later once they hammer it down, but for now the buildings are a little flimsy.

B: The buildings are just flimsy. I seem to recall two types of buildings in MW4/mercs. the indestructible tower block and the piddly little warehouses that could soak a single laser before collapsing like a flan in the cupboard. However the ruins of the building were immune to damage so if you were small enough to fit inside the debris model you were safe from all incoming fire.

I am hoping for A, but B is probably what we will see. (without the damage fuck ups and shit hit boxes)

But they show (in videos in past games) light mechs jumping on buildings. For whatever. I used to get on top of buildings in 4.

I think it's a work in progress too, because if you notice, the buildings are invulnerable to weapon damage, they get knocked over by a light graze of a mech but you can fire an entire volley of missiles into one and it takes no damage whatsoever.

From what I can tell there's different levels of destruction. Some buildings appear pretty flimsy, but so much tha tI don't think they would support a mech even under the best circumstances. Others it seems you can collapse the edges and sides, but the superstructure of the building seems to be more resistant to damage.

Overall, I'm not *too* upset over the level of destructibility. It's already better than any other mech game I've seen. If they can lock down all the other important game mechanics that are essential for a proper Mechwarrior experience (and properly working with coop), I will be satisfied with this.

Preorders are live with a published release date of September 10th, 2019.

Since we now have preorders I’m moving this to it’s own forum section.

Hm, pre-order might be worthwhile for people already playing MWO.

sure, but if you don't play MWO it's kinda a rip, all you get for the higher tier packages that actually actually has anything to do with the game itself is some exclusive skins, and even that is only a couple at the highest package tier. I suppose there's nothing mandatory about getting the collectors edition, but usually when I go collectors edition I expect to get some kind of 'collectable' There's literally no reason to pay more unless you're actually getting something. On the flip side, founders gain double MC so if you -are- playing MWO you probably won't get a better bargain.

I mean I'll play the game, but piranha kinda needs to prove it to me before I do so no pre-orders for me. I'd still play MWO but the grind got to me, it crushed my enjoyment

It's honestly also "do I care about the beta that much?" Because that is the only reason I see for preordering but then if I want the beta I can just fire up MWO. I assume the MW 5 beta will just be a skirmish mode. Essentially what MWO is just with bots instead of people.
Maybe a random mission generator but I can't see them doing that (go here. Blow up this. Kill this enemy [specific mech])

If coop campaign is confirmed, I will probably preorder despite the fact that preordering is fucking terrible in this industry.
But if I'm going to be a preorder whore...., then may I be only A PREORDER WHORE FOR ALL THINGS BATTLETECH! :awesome:

I would say wait till steam preorder unless you still play MWO. Otherwise preordering doesn't seem to be worth it.
