Because it is an alpha please: · Keep your expectations low · Expect bugs, crashes, and disconnects · Expect strange behavior of ships and visual glitches · Expect fps drops, lag and other problems If you prefer to play a ready game it is better to wait for the Early Access or later. List of ships for the trials Snow and 140 gun first rate are not in the build yet. And will arrive within next 2 weeks. Other information · Short Manual will be provided at a later stage. quick first impression, The menu is very basic, Places holders i would think but it works. In game! wow It plays so smooth and looks ace. The controls are easy within a few battles your start to get the hang of it. I think it will be one of them games that are easy to pick up and play but hard to master. I played 5 battles lost them all with one ship victory, That win come at a cost, I rammed the bastard then unleashed a broadside . the bowl of his ship was stuck on mine, sinking us both but hey! Still a win.
Played more battles, Pvp this time. This game is really growing on me, A huge element of skill is needed for PVP battles. The basics are simple to learn but mastering your ship is something that is going to require much learning. Just learning use the wind in combat takes lots of practice, You can use the wind by gaining a position to where you can shoot and he cannot cause the elevation of his guns will be to high as you pulled him into a high cross wind, He has to decrease sails to bring the elevation down to shot. Once he does this turn into him, Run across he bow and rake him. This is just of the many maneuvers i learned tonight. This is indeed a rare pvp game, Nothing else like it.
Mr Aspius - after my sudden system reboot last night, did we win? If so, I've got 4/5 Win needed for the Cutter. :headbanger: I've done two PvP battles now - with the AI as bugged as it is now, PvP is slightly easier (when was the last time that PvP was carebearing?). That said, the defence against the tactic you're describing is for the lee ship to load up on chain shot - he may be overshooting you, but if he puts chain in your rigging, you'll be slowing much faster than he will.
Yes, it was a win. It took way longer then it should though. Just because people dont want to get close to the last ship...
You can also lower elevation by moving your sails into the opposite direction, drops your speed, so I guess its similar in effect.
I been playing around with the controls To manually move your sails to the left, Q&E does your front ones and Z&C does your rear ones, Press F to set them back to normal
OK, since lots of people in game are doing just a PSA, if you see a bunch of people queing up and all go on the same side, they're abusing the win grind mechanism because if you only have 1 team you get an auto-win...
One of the admins said don't worry about resets for the time being so it is safe to lvl away, They want all ships played before a reset. Servers are down patching now.
