Lloldrin stood in front of his mech looking at the fields stretching out in the distance . Scorching wreckages of transports and defense vehicles was strewn around, billowing smoke and the smell of battle high into the air.
No, not battle, massacre. The lightly armed convoy hadn’t stood a chance when the raiders had hit. Just a couple of light mechs had been enough to destroy the protection the civilian transports had and now the sharp stink of charred flesh filled his nostrils while anger stirred in his heart. Refugees were common in these times and raiders swarmed around them like hyenas circling a dying animal. To see an attack this savage was uncommon however, but recently there had been several strikes like this around the Kavarel Mountains.
“This has to stop...” the words were barely audible over the crackling fires.
He had been hired to track down the raiders and give the location of their base of operations to the planetary defense force before the hired Merc Company, the Skjaldborg Commandos made planetfall. Climbing into the nearly derelict Raven he’d been given as payment for this job he focused hard to keep the unwanted thoughts of days past from entering his mind.
As the cockpit closed over him and the engine started making the noise of an angry god waking from a long sleep he drifted away to the memories of seeing his family lying charred in one of the earlier raids…

Bio:
"Kay" is the ever optimistic mechanic bouncing from ship to ship, place to place always able to find work with her trusty tool box, the only thing of her parents the orphanage would give her. Always smiling and with a kind word for everyone, Kay believes in the goodness of people and has a willingness to give them the benefit of the doubt. Kay wears her heart on her sleeve and never hides her feelings from anyone.

She has a fear of danger and guns, perhaps because she was shot once and almost died. She enjoys strawberries and is happier talking about ships and engines than anything else. Never really having a home, her services always came to the highest bidder, falling in with a Merc unit is the only fair way to live. Looking for her parents has always been in the back of her mind, but there is always a new toy (mech or vech) to play with.

PERSONALITY
Dyre’s uninhibited youth has not diminished with his years. He is exuberant and jovial with most, and his anger is not often seen outside of battle. For all intents and purposes most that come across him at port would be surprised at his general pleasantness. However, that quality only extends so far. He will just as soon crack someone's skull as he would a joke if given cause, and it is for that reason that many who know him prefer to keep him in good spirits.

Dyre also has a reputation for being quite stubborn. When he sets his mind to something few can hope to change it until it proves to be a spectacular failure. This has created difficulties with authority figures in the past, particularly when he was in his youth. He is one who believes that respect is earned, not granted by a title. Along those same lines, he has about much tact and subtlety as one might expect from the pilot of a war-machine with more missile ports than he has fingers and toes. If he thinks it, he'll probably say it.

Dyre’s jovial nature often produces superficial relationships with many, but true comrades are hard to come by. He is not inclined to share the intimate details of his life with many. It is not so much that he thinks them unworthy, but, more often than not, he notes that few prove to be reliable enough to count on.

Once someone has earned Dyre’s respect or loyalty, there is little that can break it aside from betrayal. He will go above and beyond to see to it that those dear to him are taken care of, even if it means putting his own life in jeopardy. It is not as entirely selfless as it sounds. Experience has shown him that reliable companions are worth their weight in endo-steel, and twice as hard to come by as decent ale beyond FRR borders.

Morally, Dyre has no particular code or law that he seeks to observe. Like traditions, he may pay them heed from time to time when it suits him, but he is more likely to be led by his own moral compass than anything else. Although it may lead him in curious directions from time to time, make no mistake, profit is always his true north.

BACKGROUND
Alexia grew up on the fairly temperate world of Kandis never really traveling far from the capital city of Coalston where she was born. Her father was an accomplished doctor untill a bad lawsuite didn't go his way causing them to lose their family fortune. To make up for the loss of income Alexia's mother took on two jobs trying to substain them untill in 3038 she got into an accident dying at the scene. In about a year transitional period, Alexia's father was enlisted into an aid of a Mercenary unit as their doctor and she began her life as a mercenary brat. She learned about medicine and became a combat medic, unfortunatly seeing war at a young age during the War of 3039. They stayed with the Mercenary unit for some time. At about 15 she began to learn how to become a Mech pilot untill she she was near the age of 19. She and her father would join the Skjaldborg, Alexia keeping her distance from her father when she could, blaming him for the life she had to lead, even though occassionally assisting him as a sort of nurse/medic. She hardly ever goes by her lastname to avoid being associated to him, prefering a callsign/nickname of Lexi.

Background:
Orcinus was orphaned at the outbreak of the Ronin War and roamed around war-torn Orestes before encountering arriving units of the 3rd Drakons—and the Skjaldborg. Once hostilities ended, he resolved to become a Mechwarrior and was taken on by an agent from Wolf’s Dragoons. His original name abandoned, he was given a new name upon arriving on Outreach, but to this day still insists on going by his callsign. He would eventually turn down a position within the Dragoon ranks in favor of joining the Skjaldborg—owing to the lasting impressions left by its members as well as his loyalty to Rasalhague.

Shortly after arriving in Trondheim, Orcinus was given an officer’s commission (with a recommendation from Wolf’s Dragoons) and would lead his own lance. However, during his first combat assignments, some complications began to surface. Lack of actual battle experience combined with a penchant for over-aggressiveness resulted in a number of incidents (including one notable instance of friendly fire during a training exercise). Eventually, these would lead to Orcinus’ resignation of his commission and re-assignment to non-combat roles.

After a few months among the salvage teams (and hours upon hours logged on the simulators), Orcinus was allowed to re-join the ranks. Assigned to a new lance, he seeks to move past his prior setbacks and begin his career anew...

Background
The Bastard son of a unnamed Mercenary Captain, Malcom was born on Robinson in 3024. His father was able to quietly secure his son a place in one of the up and coming AFFC military academies on Exeter where Malcom spent most of his upbringing. Malcom idealized the life of a Merc from a young age, dreaming of leaving the academy and finding and joining his father as a Merc. However as the years went on Malcom abandoned these dreams for a more practical life as a 2nd line Mechwarrior. After graduating the academy in 3042 he went into the service of the Draconis March militia for 3 years before returning to Exeter to serve as a Lance commander for the 1st NAIS Cadet Cadre. He soon developed a disdain for the Lyran officers that were increasingly finding their way into the academy and clashed on numerous occasions with them due to his uncertain lineage. In 3045 Malcom was involved in a incident in which, after having imbedded a few too many drinks he insulted and then accepted a challenge to duel a Lyran Captain who was on planet as an observer. Though the duel was halted by the timely intervention of his commanding officer, the incident ended any chances of transfer to a combat unit, let alone advancement. Malcom spent the next 2 years as a desk jockey for the unit he earned the nickname "Deadbeat Bastard" by his peers, a name which he later adopted as his callsign. Stripped of any cockpit privileges he simmered away until 3047 when he managed to smuggle himself and a stolen Wolfhound off planet. Staying one step ahead of his news of his theft, he served as a freelance Mechwarrior for several small merc commands before he eventually found himself inside the FRR....
