This is more about some plot points of the story then of the game play.

My main problem with the story is how Kamea Arano views the Star League as being this great noble and amazing thing, while she is from the periphery.

    that does not make sense.

Though I notice in the intro they skip over how the Star League goes and tries to subjugate the periphery states in a war that lasted what 25 years. killing billions in the process. Though they do show them going into the periphery states again to reassert power. With the most crazy thing out of all of this story. The Aurigan Reach is directly next to the Taurian Concordat. Which brings two major points. The Taurians are the ones that fought the longest and hardest to keep independence during the reunification wars. The other happening about 190 years later and being the New Vandenburg uprising. Which is what caused the other periphery states to rise up and fight for independence again. The Amaris civil war started soon after the new vandenburg uprising, which we see in the intro with Stefan shooting Richard.

A leader in a periphery state does not look up to the Star League and think of pleasant or nice things. They are reminded of all the crimes the Star League and by association the innersphere houses has done to them. A periphery leader should only have discontent and hate for the Star League.

I don't have any lore gripes, I just wish the game's progression wasn't just getting bigger tonnage mechs. They need more scenarios where bigger isn't necessarily better.

There are a few but are far between but do exist. These were also in the Taurian Concordat.

Ive had one where it had a set number of rounds to kill a objective so speed mattered.

Another was one where you needed to plan your travel before coming into contact with the enemy because of the amount of reinforcements. It was a rush the target by traveling around the enemy. Kill the target and dash to the evac point. had to kill a Orion mech which is easy huh. Well the enemy was 2 full lances of heavy mechs and 2 lances of vehicles (including srm and lrm carriers).

the game really needs aerospace fighters and hovercraft variety of vehicles.

also the ability to control more then one lance of mechs.

Being able to call limited air strikes would be a good addition, assuming it was balanced. Calling in reinforcements perhaps even if you couldn't do another full lance would also be nice.

I do remember the set amount of turns to complete the mission but so far I hit it really early in the game where you only had mediums and lights. But probably more forced scenarios that made you use lighter mechs wouldn't be bad, but better would be to give the lighter mechs some advantage that made you want to pick them like enhanced sensors, ecm, etc.

Next time, please put Spoilers in the title. Maybe even put your comments regarding story in spoilers? I've read only the first sentence, and stopped there, so please be mindful.

There is also some of the mech art that makes zero sense with the load outs that are clearly visible.

Like since when can a centurion carry both a Ultra A/C and guass rifle in the right arm, while also having 2 LRM10's and a LRM15 in the left torso and lasers in the chest.

or a highlander with two AC in the right arm, 3 PPC in the right torso, LRM20 and SRM6 in the left torso and SRM6 and laser in the left arm.

I was kinda hoping for some of the utility they had in Mechcommander, such as being able to call in support craft, hijack a downed mech, repair and rearm with a mobile (if limited) repair vehicle etc... Also wish you could field more than one lance
    Outside of specific story missions

Hehehehe. Apparently one of the highlander variants has JJ in the arms. Must be a Stark variant. Maybe It's the hulkbuster.

I just chalk that up to opinions about the Star League were not universal. There's bound to be 10% of the periphery rulers that thought the Star League wasn't so bad. It appears House Arano got a better deal than most ruling houses. It is certainly plausible. Also, it's worth noting that (by her own admission) most of her opinions of the Star League were formed from the stories she heard as a child. It's not too far of a stretch to think that she could be ignoring the injustices committed in favor of the romanticized version. A great deal of historical records lost were not compiled well at this time.

things I would like to see:
    1. Missions with weight restrictions
    2. If a mission has a timed element, you know approximately how fast you need to move to complete the objective
    3. If escort mission, limited order capability to allied units. Such as 'wait' 'advance' 'retreat'
    4. Escort mission starting with allied units but does not require -all- for completion, most escort missions you can destroy initial lance, set up your path to victory and have very little chance of the enemy even firing on one of the targets.
    5. The ability to drop more than 4 mechs on regular missions. (see #1)
    6. Missions involving 'target mech' objectives actually being a mech.
    7. more starmap.

In regards to weight restrictions, I'd like to see a cost per ton on drops. Basically, the heavier your drop lance, the more its going to cost you and eat into your profits. Want to field 4 assaults? Awesome, you ain't making shit on this mission. But if you can pull it off with a few lights and mediums you've made a good amount of money. That way you can tailor your lance according to the required mission and threat estimates and have some dynamic game play in regards to whether you're prepared for the mission at hand or not. Same thing could work for reinforcements mid-mission. You can do it, but it'll cost you a good bit of money in fuel and other costs.

I liked the reinforcements idea but the added cost per/weight seems like double dipping. You're already getting charged just for owning bigger mechs so then to charge for using them seems a bit much. I spose if it was a sliding scale vs what the enemy fields it might not be horrible. Feels a bit more to me like a status/honor mechanic for playing clans though than the current feel of the game.

My main reason for a drop limit is that currently the end game and incentive is to almost always field the heaviest lance possible (unless you know you have a reason to be able to move fast like a time limit). There is no incentive to use smaller or lighter mechs. If you had a drop cost, you could make out with more money if you can do with less. Just an idea, but it would jive with the general merc company perspective in that you have to balance your resources to get the job done efficiently so you stay in business.

I definitely do -not- want this, I just want missions specifically tailored to lighter lances for late game diversity.

For some reason, this game feels alot more like Mechymon than battletech and that is a big turn off for me.

Also would be nice if there were mods for the game.

Incorrect. There is only one mech you need... and it is Orion.

Seriously though, you are right about running out of things to do. Mods help, but I've also gotten creative like trying to match difficulty of the mission with my drop weight. Adds an extra layer of challenge that makes things interesting. If they add a way to randomly generate missions to search for lostech, that would be a nice touch too.

would also be nice if you could buy gauss ammo, sure the gun is lostech, but the rounds are just huge metal slugs, you can't tell me nobody can figure out how to manufacture them.
