Biggest things added. Urban Biome (apparently all building are fully destructable). Only 2 new mechs (maybe some new variants as well).

    Electronic Warfare
The return of these lost technologies will forever change the 31st century battlefield. ‘Mechs equipped with Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) and nearby friendly units are obscured from enemy targeting systems and immune to indirect fire. Meanwhile, ‘Mechs equipped with Active Probe can reveal, locate, and target enemy units that would otherwise be hidden.
    Two New BattleMechs
The experimental Raven 1X sports an advanced electronic warfare package that combines ECM and Active Probe systems into a lightweight component. The Javelin is a compromise between speed and firepower, with close-range knockout power.

A few new vehicles. At work can't get everything. Also somewhere the marauder and warhammer will be out (probably a patch) sometime after urban warfare.

    Beat me to it :)

Really excited about the environment changes. The new feature to take cover in destroyed buildings is a vast improvement. And the two light mech additions are really strong choices. Glad to see more choices in the 30-35 ton range with a better balance of speed and firepower.

Huh. The season pass has the name for the 3rd expansion.

    Heavy Metal (Coming Soon)
The third BATTLETECH expansion features a host of new BattleMechs, including several that have been unseen for decades and perhaps a surprise or two…

So unseen mechs in that (its bullshit if we have to pay for the warhammer and marauder. Those were promised in the kickstarter. I know they got derailed by HG. The other unseen archer, rifleman and such I'm fine with paying).

But then the raven was supposed to be in at initial launch but we are paying for it with this DLC.

I'm going with warhammer and marauder will be free patch alongside heavy metal and the DLC/paid with be archer (and maybe rifleman).

I remember reading the Raven was removed because they ran into issues with early introduction of ECM (which didn't logically fit in with the otherwise predominantly 3025-era technology). I'm pretty sure they also stated they wanted to bring it back later as part of a general LosTech expansion.

I think the most requested feature at this point is to be able to command in battle more than 4 mechs as well as more combined arms action.

There are rumors we might see this for the last expansion.

To be honest, I'm a little disappointed infantry weren't introduced for Urban Warfare seeing as it is in cities that they are usually used with good effect.

Traditionally in tabletop, it was the "CityTech" expansions that introduced most of the infantry & building rules.

Oh well. The additions of Urban Warfare will still be great and I have read that they will work seamlessly with features from the original game as well as Flashpoint. All good news there.

We don't know everything that will be added till patch notes (I'd guess a few days to a week before urban warfare comes out) who knows what the free/base game content will be (maybe the non ECM raven 2x.)

Another thing I'm excited for is the "Attack & Defend" new mission type where you have to defend your own base against waves of enemies while also taking out another objective. Seems that we might get additional allies on the field this way (not sure you will command them directly). Will be interesting to see.

Yeah, you should get on that. The dead demand retribution. :)

I found the best way to enjoy it all is to power through the campaign first with whatever you can get and then focus on creating your mercenary dream team afterward. The campaign becomes kind of a pushover if you spend a long time grinding for better gear and you get way better stuff as you get closer to finishing the campaign.

Yeah. I never actually finished the campaign. Updates then flashpoint made me want to start a new one (plus mods. I wish mods could auto update).

Ah okay. I'll start that sometime this weekend maybe. (I'm trying to at least keep as many of the original mechwarriors alive as possible, however I always, and I mean always loose Dekker)

Doesn't everyone lose him? I think he is pretty much scripted to die by the mission to get the Argo (during that mission or before it).

He survived for me. He was basically my 2nd top pick after my own character (set him up with the same skills). The trick is getting him into something better than a Spider asap. I moved him to a Firestarter early on and then to a wolverine later. I still lost other pilots, but all of my original pilots made it to the end of the campaign.

Pretty sure you get a nice Centurion AL after getting the Argo; it works really well as either a brawler or a make-shift Catapult (x2 LRM15s + x2 medium lasers). But Thunderbolts, Orions, and Stalkers were the main workhorses for most of my campaign. They are very common. I would sometimes bring a fast medium mech for missions that required getting to an objective quickly.

My general strategy was running two faster brawlers and two slower fire support mechs. LRMs worked really well on big slow mechs (especially the Stalkers) because they could still engage even if they were falling behind and didn't have LoS on targets. The setup allowed really good flexibility for dealing with almost any mission. I just had to be careful not to let my force get too overextended.

My current campaign Dekker died on the first mission. The mining betrayal one. And he wasn't even focused. As in he wasn't even targeted more than the one turn.

I've managed to keep Behemoth and Glitch up and running just fine, they are currently my Fire support team(long range either LRM or PPC/LL), while myself as commander is more focused on mid-range/brawling. Dekker was my scout. Spider was the best thing I had for that, still is in many ways. Maybe I should try and get a firestarter going.

My first campaign every, I lost every single original pilot, within 2 missions. The spider that you start with survived 4 pilots itself.

Notes (not from me. Didn't even know there was a stream) on May 3rd.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- FREE 1.6 UPDATE -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
(Things marked with FP will require the Flashpoint DLC)
(Things marked with UW will require the Urban Warface DLC)
    • Star Map updates:
      • 50 new star systems, upwards toward Terra (new systems are compatible with existing saves)
      • biome filters
      • difficulty filters
      • visited systems are marked
      • Combine and Commonwealth will be more common with the expansion of the starmap
      • Clip of Star Map: https://clips.twitch.tv/SourCautiousPartridgeCoolStoryBro
    • Randomized starting lance
      • New game setup has a toggle for "randomized starting mechs"
      • Each mech slot has an ItemCollection associated with it.
    • EDIT: Career scoring is weighted by difficulty settings.
    • New events (no specifics)
      • They mentioned something about 'chained events' where decisions in one event will lead to options in other events (or events entirely, not sure which was implied)
    • New Mechs (thanks to @@Kereminde for the better formatted list)
      • Homegrown variants:
        • HCT-3K (FP) - Missile hardpoints on your melee 'Mech because SRM Shotguns are cool.
        • UM-R90 - Energy hardpoints instead of ballistic ones because Urbies with PPCs sound Awesome
      • Others!
        • UM-R60L - You heard of "Hobo With a Shotgun"? This is an Urbie with a death-wish, and hopefully a mutual agreement.
        • BNC-3S - Some call it the only good Banshee. Others say no Banshee is good.
        • CPLT-C4 - Because LRM20s on a Catapult follows the design philosophy of variants. "If it fits, make it so."
        • VND-1AA - The "Avenging Angel" Vindicator.
        • BJ-1DB - Lasers instead of autocannons, because why not, everyone does it anyway.
    • Infantry: 'not right now, but who knows'
    • Missions:
      • Multiple lances: some missions will drop allied units with us
      • Battle Contracts have been expanded to allow multiple factions on the field simultaneously...with varying hostilities. I fight you, you fight them, they fight me. We all fight each other. Additionally allied reinforcements may also show up.
      • Hint from Mitch: READ YOUR BRIEFINGS
    • There will be more LosTech added in 1.6
    • Player called Airstrikes / Artillery: "never say never"
    • Heavy Metal is the last DLC in the Season Pass. Future DLC will be mentioned in the future.
    • There is no skidding on highways / streets (even though Jordan wanted it). Same reason there are no pilot skill rolls for movement in water.
    • Combat Interface Quality of Life update:
      • All units are distinguished with their faction.
      • Objectives are presented differently depending on whether they are primary or secondary
      • Regions (zones) will be marked in such a way as to make them easy to associate with their particular objective.
      • Overall, changes were made to make it easier to look at the screen and immediately see what's going on.
    • Missed shots / collateral damage:
      • Weapon fire is raycast so misses can / will be applied to objects that intercept the ray.
      • EXCEPTION: Friendly fire is NOT a thing, though you can miss and destroy a building that a friendly is standing on and cause them damage that way.
      • THIS MEANS YOU CAN ACCIDENTALLY DESTROY BUILDINGS IN BASE DEFENSE MISSIONS.
      • Check your fire lanes.
    • Falling
      • Mechs on buildings that are destroyed take fall damage
      • Damage is similar to what would be caused by a DFA attack.
    • There are no plans for more full length campaigns (ala Arano Restoration)
    • Fires (forest or otherwise)
      • Never say never, but they've discussed it recently.
    • Stores:
      • Faction stores will have more faction specific gear. If a unit or piece of equipment is tied to a particular faction, you will only be able to find it in those faction stores or in the black market. Example on stream given was the Raven (part of Urban Warfare) being only found in Liao Faction and Black Market shops.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- URBAN WARFARE GAMEPLAY TEASE -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

    • Ramps, tall buildings
    • Building access is via jumpjets or ramps
      • Jumpjet distance is used to determine overall height as well. So, 140m straight up? or 140m off to the side and up... etc
    • All buildings are destructible. Rubble provides cover.
    • (Personal note) The city map they showed was gorgeous and the building destruction was amazing.
    • They showed the destruction of a "Coolant Exchanger" building. Destruction caused an explosion and nearby mechs also took heat damage (from being covered in super hot coolant). But subsequent rounds they had a cooling effect from the leaking coolant.
    • Contract penalties for destroying too much of the city: Not yet, but looking into it.
    • Buildings can not be melee'd
    • Mechs:
      • JVN-10N - The grown-up COM-2D Commando
      • JVN-10F - If a JR7-F Jenner was humanoid in shape...
      • Raven is the only unit to have BOTH ECM and Active Probe. Other units will be able to have one or the other (no details on how, though)
