I was curious since our group seems to be for the most part older than 20, how many original XCOM fans are out there, and how many are planning on picking up XCOM: Enemy Unknown in October when its released. They really have done a great job keeping it true to the original and even have a few of the developers of the original with the group working on Enemy Unknown.

I will be picking this up for sure waiting for MW:O to open up to the world.

I've played a couple of the UFO games, which I hear are sort of the successors to the xcom series. Good times, but hard as hell. Never tried the old xcoms though, I was still in my console stage back then.

Looking forward to enemy unknown. I'll definitely get it when it comes out.

I fucking LOVED the xcom series - I poured so many hours into the originals. I'll definitely be picking up enemy unknown :D

pre-ordered from amazon (steam offer was pretty sucky)...

Played a LOT of TFTD (the sequel that nobody liked) so this will be good for me since I won't have many preconceptions about the enemies...

Seriously looking forward to this game. My fall gaming schedule is starting to look pretty crowded, what with Barbie Horse Adventures, Borderlands 2, and X-COM. Plus Banner Saga should be hitting beta pretty soon...schedule is gonna be tight. :D

    My words exactly.

X-COM looks excellent from the gameplay videos I've seen. Art-style, game-mechanics and music feel really UFOish. And those damn cyberdisks are friggin' scary.

I LOVE the X-Com series. Practically grew up on the stuff. I am a little wary though, since I've been hurt before by some of the newer X-Com games.

Loved Xcom as many here i pured many hours into it.

I hope this new xcom is good but im not building my hopes up. I lost count of how many times i have waited for reboot of a classic to be made only to be pissed once released.

I have been playing a bete version of Xcom type game that is based on Xcom. Xenonauts is the name of the game. its made by a british indie company. the game cauptures everything very well from the first xcom game. http://www.xenonauts.com/

I played enough of this during my senior year that at one point, the bell rang (computer science class) and I looked at the door and wondered if I had enough AP to make it there.

And yet.. I still haven't ordered the game. : (

I did preorder xenonauts a while back, but at that time all the features weren't implemented. I really have to check up on it.

I played the original way way back when and it was great. Never played any of the remakes cause they just didnt seem to live up to the 1st one. I will probably wait and see how this turns out before I actually get it.

The UFO trilogy that game out later were average at best I do agree. I'm really hopeful for this title. I will have to check out that indie game. Terror was a great game as well. Some of the ones after that and before the UFO trilogy were questionable, at least to me

the original X-Com is in my #2 all time favorite game (right behind MW2: Mercenaries, of course :awesome: ) and still has a spot on my thumb drive so I can boot up Dos Box and play at my leisure!

I've seen the trailers and announcements for the new game but don't think I'll be pre-ordering. If I hear great things I'll eventually buy, but I'd rather not ruin the great memories with a sub-par reboot if I can avoid it.

One of my all time favorite games, the original and Terror From the Deep defined my early gaming years just as much as Doom did. I'm excited to see a sequel coming out that tries to update the original, but I'm waiting to see how they do. Have to say that I love the team at Firaxis, though.
