We still have a good three weeks or so that we have to wait out our contract on Kobe (ends November 6th). Currently we have been placed on standby and ordered to return to our dropship at the capital. Should we pursue any of the information we have gained? We have various means of covertly attaining possibly more information... but there is also various amounts of risk. Should we investigate or should we keep our noses out of it?

 

Thing is though... these sneaky dealings could have some unforeseen circumstances on our FRR brethren. I'd say we should poke around a little tiny bit, if possible.

 

I am interested in finding out a bit more about what's going on, I hate walking into traps

 

no traps really... the Unionists are on the run at this point and there is no evidence suggesting we were culpable in Shepards escape with her men. all that is left is to decide if we want to pursue this lead further or simply report what info we have to FRR command and move along to our next job.

(GM hint: characters skilled in Tech (hacking) and/or Scrounge/Recon (infiltration) might have methods of attaining more information)

keep in mind depending on how deep you dig or how bad you fuck up, it could have various consequences... possibly affecting everyone.

 

Can the Tech/Mech abilities be used for hacking? If so, I'll do it.

 

any tech skill can. specifically, MechTechs still have to have an extensive understanding of computer systems in general (Mech security systems are among the toughest to crack).

standard formula will apply for any Scrounge/Tech roll:

6 - [Skill Level] + 4 = success number

as usual, the greater the success, the greater the outcome. same rule applies if you fail. although theoretically, more than one of you could attempt to gain info, this will also increase the chance that we are discovered by FedCom security on Kobe. I will need a complete list of everyone on board for what we are going to call the "Infiltration Party" before we begin. XP has yet to be determined, but EVERYONE in the campaign will get something (probably +1XP), but with participants perhaps getting a little bit more for the additional risk (probably an addition +1XP).

If you are doing this, I need everyone who is interested to sign up here by no later than noon tomorrow (Friday).

 

Unfortunately, I can't make the drop tomorrow at noon, but I'd be willing to put my Elite skills to the test.

 

After some debate among the officers, we eventually decided to err on the side of caution and not pursue this lead further. The next few weeks were tense as we waited for the end of our contract on Kobe, but it was thankfully quiet and uneventful. We packed up our dropships and left as soon as we could. As we lifted off the frozen plains of Kobe, our people gave a collective sigh of relief.

Since we had yet to find a new contract, we set the most direct course back to Rasalhague. However, the Tamar region border was rife with turmoil. It would not take long for us to find more work.
