    System: Tamar
    Planet: Tamar III (Tamar Prime)
    Tamar City - Mercenary District

Our time on Tamar has finally come to an end. Duke Kelswa has been cooperative in allowing us access to some of his better repair facilities, but I feel he is doing it for reasons other than simple charity; he wants us off his planet as soon as possible without any further incident. I believe he is worried our continued presence may provoke further aggression from his still hidden enemies.

I am eager to not disappoint him. Lily Morgana has a job for us that is too tempting to pass up: hunting the infamous dropship 'Mischief Maker' and her crew. The stories of their exploits are legendary. It would be a fools errand if not for the information Morgana has on her. Flight recordings, crew rosters, schematics, and access codes; her work is surprisingly thorough.

Still, our search is taking us to Star's End. Only the pirates, thieves, and murderers who call that system home take any solace there. The most famous of pirate havens for centuries, various attempts to impose order on this system have all ended in failure. It is definitely not the system you visit unless you have good reason to be there. Morgana says she has the right IFF codes to get us safely past the static system defenses and patrols, but it isn't enough to let me sleep easy at night.

We are swimming in the shark tank now.

"Ok people, we've been preping for this operation over the past month. All this should be review for you, but listen up and focus! This information could mean the difference between life and death for us. I will now turn things over to Specialist Morgana."

    Crow's Nest.jpg
"Thank you, Major Sullivan. I have provided everyone with all the information available to me on our target. Everyone open up your mission docs and review the mission plan with me.

"We are on a fast and direct burn to the Mischief Maker's primary safehouse, Crow's Nest. Our stolen IFF codes should be enough to get us past the SDS located in the region. It is unknown at this time if the Mischief Maker is docked there, but we must assume that if she is, we will only have about 10 minutes to attack the asteroid base before she can launch. Our dropships don't have the firepower to engage her directly so it will be up to our aerospace pilots to quickly disable the main hangar doors. With a little luck, we will trap her inside and make her capture that much easier."

    dungeon PC crowsnest guide.jpg

"Once the surface of the asteroid is secure, we will move in our three boarding teams. We cannot dock a dropship at the Auxilliary Docking Station (ADS) while the enemy controls it. Instead, our boarding teams will gain entrance by EVA using the personnel access ports around that module. The ADS is likely to be well defended by this point so remember your training and be careful."

"Once you have gained access, immediately activate the ADS so our dropship can begin the docking sequence. Once this has begun, immediately take and hold the Auxiliary Power Station (APS) to ensure they do not cut power to our docking efforts. Hold at the APS until our dropship docks and can provide you additional support. From the APS, you will then need to take the Control Center. There are two levels with two rooms for each level. From the Control Center you can control all doors and operations on the station."

"At this point, it will be a relatively straightforward sweep and clear operation. Secure the Power Station, Maintenance Tunnel, and Waste Processing center first and then move on towards the Habitation Modules and Hangar areas. Watch your fire in the workshops and hangar. It is likely there will be a lot of hazardous equipment here. We want this place intact."

    "Any questions?"

Will speed be emphasized over firepower in this op?

You will need both. First speed and then firepower. Laser rifles only on the surface levels; we need to be careful about breaches. Slug ammo and grenades may be used once you get to the interior but watch your fire. Our enemy is likely to be just as concerned about breaches as well so don't expect hardened targets until you get to the lower sub-levels (cargo, hangar, and workshops).

    GM ANNOUNCEMENT!

We have a special event starting at 1pm EST this Sunday. The event will end when all mission objectives are completed. It is not required to join at the start, but I recommend arriving on time to make sure you get credit for participation. All participants will receive a minimum of 3 XP as reward although there may be additional rewards depending on how the mission unfolds. Hope you all can make it!

    CHANGE OF PLANS, GUYS.

I forgot I'm scheduled to work Sunday. Unless we have a lot of people requesting otherwise, I'm going to need to push the timetable up to Saturday... tomorrow. This may be bad news or good news for some of you. On the brightside, what I have planned should cause minimal disruption to Shieldwall Day activities.

Meet tomorrow at 1pm EST to see what happens.

It was very unrealistic of me to think I could squeeze a campaign event on Shieldwall Day. Everything is ready to go, we just need to set a date. I Fly out the 18th. If we are going to do the next campaign, we need to start soon... the sooner, the better. I'm working next Saturday. If we wait till the weekend, we would have to do it Sunday April 6th. 4/4/2014 @ 4pm has a nice ring to it. What about then? Any chance we can start on a weekday or night? We will probably have to break up the EVC section across different days, especially considering Euro times.

    Suggestions?

    EDIT!

Oh yeah... the EVC mechanic is live. Join Roll 20 if you want to take part:

For NA Weeknights, I can do about anything this week but I think Tuesday night would probably be best.

Tuesday is great for me. Anyone else?

I don't mind picking more than one day. I built the EVC mechanics to be much faster than your typical Megamek session. It should help us get in more interesting plot-related events without committing to 4 hour marathons. We can break it up into multiple smaller sessions over the course of the week, but I would like to see as many people involved in this as possible. In many ways, this is a test run for later events involving Project Prometheus.

Hrm.. Tuesday may or may not be good for me. Usually have D&D from 7:30 local till midnight range, if we have it in the first place. That session is sorta up in the air until the day of. Other than that, I do have Tuesday off from work, so far as I know, so I might be able to do a daylight session.

Well you should do our thing then because we are scheduling it now and I am awesome at being your awesome friend. :D

Unless people give me a reason to start earlier, let's meet at 7pm EST. It will take about 30 mins, to explain the basics and get people set up in Roll 20 so I don't expect to launch any earlier than 7:30. Because the nature of the EVC is much more fluid than Megamek, people can freely join late as needed. If you can be there early though, please do so. The less times I need to review the rules with people, the better.

Speaking of rules... please review this between now and 7pm EST Tuesday so you can be somewhat ready to play:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/b6bryq0urfu1v74/Extra-Vehicular Combat.xls

EDIT: I forgot to mention I'm also off tomorrow night. People who can't make Tuesday could play Monday instead (7pm EST still good?). Maybe both... although be careful about not overextending yourself :)

Assault on Crow's Nest (Part 1)

May 10, 3049 (Standard Terran Calendar)
    System: Star's End
    Crow's Nest - Command Center
    Commander's Log

What a mess. As we approached Crow's Nest, it became evident that something ugly had happened here long before we arrived. One of the habitation modules had been mostly destroyed and power was off to all but the most critical functions. It appears this place has been left abandoned. Then we started finding bodies inside. There had been some kind of major firefight. As we made our way to get the power back on, the number of bodies we found increased. The former occupants of Crow's Nest had apparently tried to seal off the doors to the main power station. The reason for this did not become evident until we attempted to enter ourselves... Crana.

    Crana.JPG

We pushed back three waves and they still kept coming. Before being overwhelmed, we narrowly escaped with our lives out the door we came in. One gave MH a nasty laceration on the arm, but it looks like he will be okay. Unfortunately, we still have to get the power back on if we want to get down to the main hangar. That means getting past the Crana. We are now resting in the Command Center while we wait for reinforcements and supplies. I just hope those damn bugs don't find a way around the doors before we get those flamethrowers I asked for.
